How to Land a Job Interview for Chartered Accountants

Following are the strategies given below which needs to be put in action for successfully Landing Job Interviews –
Find Target Companies
For a Chartered Accountants Firms like Deloitte, E&Y, KPMG, PWC, Grant Thorton, BDO, Mazars etc. generally sponsors the work permit. Go to the Careers Page of the Targeted Companies and check for the latest job vacancies of the location you are planning to go.
Relevant Experience
Aim to gain experience, particularly in audit and assurance divisions, preferably with reputable multinational firms like the Big 4 or other recognized global companies. If you are a recently qualified CA than apply for the Jobs in Big 4s and other Multinational Firms in your region and take at least 18 months of experience in Audit & Assurance Division. After that you can directly apply through internal job openings outside your region to places such as Ireland, UK, US etc.
Apply Internally
Now days the Global Delivery Centres as compared to Country Practice are getting more opportunities of shifting in regions such as US, UK , Ireland etc. as they directly work with UK, Ireland and US etc. counterparts. Hence, they have more visibility and knowledge of how these counterparts are functioning and you would have a better chance of moving outside from there.
Utilize LinkedIn
Actively build and nurture your network on LinkedIn, connecting not only with colleagues but also with HR professionals who regularly post job openings. Engage with their content and send personalized connection requests expressing your interest in opportunities at their organizations.
Note – Send connection request using your laptop (this option will not be available through mobile) to the potential HRs with a Note option stating that you are looking for an opportunity at their organisation and if they find your profile suitable than they can accept the connection request and thereafter you can have conversation with them.
Job Search Techniques
Use LinkedIn’s job search feature, filtering for companies known to sponsor work permits and focusing on recent job postings. Applying promptly to newly listed positions increases your chances of being noticed by applying a filter of Past 24 Hrs in Linkedin Job Filter.
Leverage Acquaintances
If you have contacts or acquaintances working in companies abroad, especially in locations like Ireland, UK, US leverage these connections for introductions or recommendations. Having someone vouch for you can significantly enhance your chances of landing an interview.
