Today Apple updated their iMac lineup yet again with Intel i3 and Intel i5 processors as well as ATI Radeon HD 5000 series graphic cards. The New iMacs come in 21.5-inch and 27-inch flavors. The baseline iMac (21.5-inch) costs $1199.99 and comes with 3.06GHz Intel Core i3, 1920-by-1080 resolution, 4GB (two 2GB) memory, 500GB hard drive, 8x double-layer SuperDrive, and a ATI Radeon HD 4670. The baseline does not offer an i5 processor, however the $1499.99 model (21.5-inch) offers an i5 upgrade. The 3 iMacs above baseline all come with 1tb hard drives, 2560 x 1440 resolutions (27-inch), and Radeon HD 5670 (Radeon HD 5750 for the top of the line). If you are either waiting for the new Mac pro, it’s not out yet, but Apple has posted an add for it, the new models will be available this August with the choice of 4, 6, 8, or 12 processing cores.
On a side note Apple also released the Magic Trackpad which is avaialble for all of the new iMac desktops. The Magic Trackpad is exactly what it sounds like, it’s a version of the trackpad from the MacBook Pro for your Mac desktop.

Don’t be a fanboy. I wouldn’t mind the i7 27-inch iMac, or one of the new Mac Pros, but I’m too cheap to buy one. (Maybe I can score a free one)
i’m not being a fan boy but i do have to say this.
Sure you can get the i7 mac thingy but what happens if there is a new and better processser and imac decides to use that? then your Imac would be out of date and useless which is likely to happen in 11 months
Well that’s the nature of ALL computers, however, the difference is that on a PC you can upgrade your processor to the newer one if your motherboard is the same socket. If not then you have to get a new motherboard, which would require you to rebulid your whole system. Which can be time consuming. As for the new Mac Pros, little has been released, but from the sounds of it, Apple is going to have a super expensive model (12 core) since a single 6 core i7 980x is $1000. Maybe Apple will start offering lower cost AMD based systems.

5000 series cards huh. guess because of steam for macs.
Well remember Steam on Macs runs only OpenGL games because DirectX is not available on any operating system but OSX. Howerver from what I have heard (and you will be able to test out soon) is the performance of the new Radeon and GeForce cards should outclass the prior series of cards
